*ALL ARE WELCOME AND ENCOURAGED TO ENTER. We believe diversity strengthens artistic quality and overall experience for participants, musicians, and audience members alike. Rock, hip-hop, funk, jazz, classical - there are no boundaries or limits!
Zeitgeist, an internationally renowned instrumental quartet, is holding its 21st annual Eric Stokes Song Contest. Any amateur composer living in the seven-county Twin Cities metropolitan area may apply. Youths (17 and under) and adults will be judged separately.
Judges will choose 3 songs to be arranged for Zeitgeist’s instrumentation of piano, clarinet and 2 percussion. Winning songs will be performed at Zeitgeist’s “Playing it Close to Home” concerts Feb. 19–21. Winning composers will also receive $100 plus a one-year membership to the American Composers Forum.
Entering is easy. Please send a legible score and/or high-quality recording (please indicate whether adult or youth and include address, phone number, and email, plus a self-addressed, stamped envelope if you would like your materials returned), postmarked by Dec. 28, 2015, to:
