The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance will be launching its new choir with an exclusive masterclass from Sense of Sound’s Juliet Russell on Monday 30th January 2012.
Juliet has spent her life following her passion for singing and composing, which lead her to create Sense of Sound in 1992, specialising in vocal training and in particular, singing. The company provides training workshops and courses as well as creating and producing commissioned pieces and developing music projects. It is also a professional session singing agency that represents some of the finest singers, songwriters and performers working in the music industry today.
Juliet has created choirs for Damon Albarn, Imogen Heap and Paloma Faith, and has appeared on BBC's Bafta-winning series The Choir, with Gareth Malone, and Last Choir Standing. She has also worked with a wide variety of leading artists including, Ringo Starr, Bon Jovi, Seal, and is currently one of the vocal coaches on the widely anticipated TV singing competition The Voice.
Alongside her work creating vocal projects and new music, Juliet is also a singer in her own right, and is currently completing her debut album with a band comprising of Institute tutor Ben Barritt, former Institute tutor Svetlana Vassileva (Moby), Andy Mitchell (The Yailbirds), Alan Brown, and Kartik Reghunathan (Imran Khan).
Juliet Russell will lead a fun, up-tempo and energetic a cappella singing session, for instrumentalists and vocalists alike, culminating in the creation of a whole arrangement using only voices.
The Institute choir formed from students, tutors and staff following the workshop will go on to work on a its own projects leading towards a range of live public performances, for which plans are already in the pipeline.
