Offering celebrates release of new album at Café Caturra.

Local band uses CD release to raise money and supplies for Haiti relief.

RICHMOND, 2/16/10 - Richmond based acoustic rock band Offering is releasing their fourth album, More Than This, with a CD release parties at Café Caturra in Short Pump, VA on February 21.
HAITI EARTHQUAKE RELIEF: at the parties, $1.50 of the sale of each new CD will be donated to World Vision and New Hope Haiti Mission (small orphanage in Haiti). The band is also collecting vitamins, extra-strength Tylenol, chewable aspirin, and Neosporin to donate to the orphanage.
Offering rocks with heart. The non-profit band performs 70-90 shows a year, frequently sponsoring food drives and community-enhancing efforts like Arts in the Alley and Christmas in July in Richmond and throughout the mid-Atlantic region. With their acoustic rock sound anchored in guitar and piano, enriched by strings and world percussion, Offering marries music, passion, and response to a difficult world.
Their new album – More Than This – is Offering’s fourth full-length release and contains original arrangements of twelve of the band’s favorite cover songs. Frontwoman Jeanine Guidry engages the listener with a repertoire of songs that speak to the challenges and fragility of life interspersed with messages of hope on tracks like U2’s “With or Without You”, Sixpence None The Richer’s “I’ve Been Waiting”, and a haunting arrangement of Sarah McLachlan’s “Angel” by Guidry and Offering-friend (and Moruza-lead singer) Leslie Dripps. Guidry's vocals give a poignantly gritty edge to well-known classics and unknown gems alike. Rich string arrangements complement driving guitars, launching the listener on an acoustic rock journey to make music make a difference.
Offering was established in 1999 by lead singer Jeanine Guidry and plays in diverse venues throughout the mid-Atlantic region. They have toured twice internationally: in 2004 to Czech Republic, Austria and Italy; in 2009 to China. Locally and regionally, they play at venues like The Positive Vibe Café, Café Caturra, The National, The Camel, and festivals including Watermelon Festival, Carytown Wine Festival, Virginia State Fair, Relay for Life, Arts in the Alley, and Christmas in July. The band also plays a yearly benefit concert with the local Thomas Dale High School Orchestra.
Discography: Offering (2004), Comfort and Joy (2006), No Shoes Required (2006), More Than This (2010). All are available at iTunes, Amazon, and CD Baby.
