This release offers an interesting analysis into the different strumming techniques available with either a pick or your bare hand. Several styles are available, ranging from the jazzy Al Di Meola picking style, to the powerful flamenco beats.

Hober Smith said: "Every guitarist dreams of playing the rhythm like a pro. In Spanish music the main rule is rhythm and there are several guitar strumming techniques. Jazz and pop music also requires at least basic understanding of rhythm patterns and chord progression. We know it is imperative to master it, and be able to change it however we desire."

The usage of picks is popular among electric guitar players, while finger picking is common among classical and flamenco guitar players.

Hober wanted to emphasize the big difference between the pick and your fingers. "The pick is mostly used by electric and jazz guitar players. With a pick the motion is simple, either up-down or the other way around", he said, while "Finger picking is mostly used by classical and flamenco guitar players. The right hand technique of the flamenco music is far more complex than any other technique". The different techniques produce different types of sounds, while a pick is more suitable for jazz playing, you can't play flamenco with a pick, or so the experts say.

Hober takes a deeper look into each of them, which unveils the complexity of finger picking in flamenco when compared to playing with a pick. The basic techniques are the rasguedos, the tremolos, the golpes, the alzapua and the picados, but there are numerous combinations designed to give the player even more alternatives.
