Los Angeles-based pop singer-songwriter Sara Haze will play The Mint, Sunday, July 12th at 8:00 p.m. joined by her fellow singer-songwriters and friends Ruut, Emily Jaye and Ginger Kinison. From Finland, Ruut (pronounced “root”) has been described as “soulful as Alicia Keys, lyrical as Sarah McLaughlin.” Influenced by Paramore, The Killers, Garbage and Sheryl Crow, Emily Jaye’s sound is distinct vocally and lyrically. Ginger Kinison’s music is a mixture of sarcastic wit with bittersweet lyrics.
Sara Haze is a powerful vocalist, whether playing solo at her piano or with a full band. Her songs are regularly placed in TV and film, including recent episodes of MTV’s series The Hills, that has attracted new fans to her website and shows. She also caught the attention of Gene Simmons at Canadian Music Week (CMW) in Toronto. Simmons asked Sara to sing for him and she gave an impromptu performance, accompanied by Eric Fraley on guitar. A video of that meeting is on YouTube under: Gene Simmons Asks Sara if She'll Move to Canada (also noted in Simmons’ blog at SimmonsRecords.com under “March 18th – CMW News”). At CMW 2008, Grammy® Award winning producer/songwriter Glen Ballard and producer/songwriter Mark Hudson were so impressed with Sara that they joined her onstage.
Sara is currently working with guitarist/producer Eric Fraley on her second CD that will include songs co-written with James T. Slater and Glen Ballard. Sara’s three song EP, Shine is currently available for download on iTunes and Rhapsody. In 2008 she played over 100 dates in support of her indie debut CD, The Ladder.
The Mint is located at 6010 W. Pico Boulevard in Los Angeles. An all ages show, tickets are $13/under 21, $10/over 21. For more information: (323) 954-9400.
Sara is represented by APA in Los Angeles for national concert bookings.
