Tahlequah, Oklahoma… Oct. 11, 2008…. Becky Wright, award-winning singer/songwriter from Oklahoma, releases “Call Me Loved”, the new song for National Adoption Month (November) to radio worldwide. Wright just returned from Nashville, where she began recording the first songs for “The Heart of Adoption”, a CD project (and nationwide concert tour) to benefit Adoption, Foster Parenting, and Crisis Pregnancy Organizations nationwide. Christian Radio Weekly and Hope Street Music Group will offer simultaneous releases to approximately 1,800 stations, and additional organizations such as Focus on the Family, FamilyLife.com, and Delilah Radio will receive the song.
“Call Me Loved” is the poignant heart-cry of the orphan, the foster child, the forgotten child, the abused or neglected child, and is already touching hearts around the country. Produced by Robert Jason, the L.A.-turned-Nashville producer with credits such as Reba McEntire, Oak Ridge Boys, Barry White, Disney, Coco-cola and more, the production includes top musicians who’ve played with Wynonna, Big & Rich, and Keith Urban. Downloads are available at www.beckywrightsongs.com, offered exclusively through www.IndieHeaven.com .
In May 2008, Wright was named "Female Songwriter of the Year" at the Agape Fest (TX), and she performs across the USA at churches, festivals, homeless shelters, and for adoption events. Her worldwide acclaim began with the writing of “Child of My Heart”, the first ”adoption song” which won her the title “Duo of the Year” in 2006. The song was recorded in Nashville with Tommy Brandt, ICMA (Inspirational Country Music Association) Male Vocalist & Entertainer of the Year, and is now used by adoption and related organizations such as the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (Adoption Services), Arkansas Adoption Coalition, Gift for a Child, ATTACH.org, ChosenInternational.org, and others. The new “The Heart of Adoption” CD & Concert Tour will benefit these and similar organizations who help place waiting children into “forever families” through adoption.
“Becky has once again captured the heart of the hurting child with her latest release, "Call Me Loved". As an advocate for adoption and foster care, as well as an adoptive parent of four of my own children, I find great encouragement in the words of this song….Her upcoming album is sure to bring encouragement and inspiration to many a forgotten child, as well as adoptive and foster families across the country. Thank you, Becky, for singing our song!” John Hewett, Director, Arms of Compassion, and Recipient of the Oklahoma State Adoption Cooperative Spirit Award 2007
“Becky Wright’s music inspires passion for children – especially children who are placed in the hearts of the adoptive parents who choose them. Her confidence in God’s desire for a healthy family for all children is exciting.” Dr. Howard Hendrick, Director of the Oklahoma Dept. of Human Services, and Cabinet Secretary for Human Services under Gov. Brad Henry
“We chose Becky’s song, “Call Me Loved”, as the October Song of the Month. She writes music with the power to touch hearts… passionate songwriting and ministry…. expertly crafted and beautifully produced song, "Call Me Loved." James Moore, President & Founder of the Christian Songwriters Network www.christiansongwriters.org
“My child came from a situation that will be difficult to explain later… adopted through foster care. Becky’s music provides me with ways to explain to him that he was loved by his biological parents, even though the situation was not positive… Many adopted children feel abandoned … However, with Becky's help, all adopted children can know that they were always loved…”
Dawn Reed, President, Northwest Arkansas Adoption Coalition
Besides her own albums, Becky’s songs are included with STEVEN CURTIS CHAPMAN, Sandi Patty, and others on “Spirit of Adoption”, a 10-song CD released in 2006, and other projects. She has opened for Christian and country artists such as Salvador (“How Far is Heaven?”), The Imperials, Bryan White (six #1 Singles), Jamey Johnson (CMA & ACM Song of the Year Co-writer), and Jason Meadows (18 Video Tapes), Joanne Cash-Yates (sister of the late Johnny Cash), and shared stages with Watermark (Nathan & Christy Nokels), and Michele Pillar.
Sponsors are needed for the album and “Heart of Adoption Tour”, and are tax-deductible through Becky’s headquarters, Artists in Christian Testimony, International in Brentwood, TN, a Non-Profit 501 c3 Organization. Becky lives with her husband and children in northeastern Oklahoma. ###
