Jefferson, GA – Singer/Songwriter Ricky Fitzpatrick is celebrating twice this week.

One of the UK’s largest and most established sites for Independent Music, Intomusic.com just posted his solo guitar instrumental “Emma’s Song” as the #1 most downloaded song by a singer/songwriter, surpassing artists like Aimee Mann and Jackson Browne, who also charted along with Fitzpatrick. He also has the only instrumental to chart in that category. IntoMusic is home to thousands of independent artists and hundreds of thousands of music fans, recently posting download number 12 million.

Ricky also celebrated being named as a Myxer Ringtones “Pick of the Day” in the month of August. The ringtone for his song “Ballad of Billy the Kid” was selected from over 470 thousand other ringtones and was downloaded by over 7,000 fans on August 11 alone, eclipsing all of Fitzpatrick’s previous ringtone downloads for the entire last six months combined. Myxer is one of the largest providers of ringtones in the world, with over 12.2 million users and 185 million downloads to date and currently, nearly 10 million downloads every month.

And with new songs and a new CD on the horizon, Ricky Fitzpatrick is becoming more and more recognized as someone other than “the guy that sounds like James Taylor”. Even though he’s still called things like “the next James Taylor” and “a Southernized Bob Dylan”, fans and critics are making fewer comparisons, and just singing along with what some are calling “some of the most passionate songwriting being done today…anywhere.”
