Second Wave Music inks management deal with rising stars – Company of Thieves
Adds Damon Atkinson to team
CHICAGO – March 12, 2008 – Emerging, independent artist Company of Thieves just turned up the volume on their career. Second Wave Music, a next-generation music company, today announced the signing of Company of Thieves to an exclusive management agreement.
Second Wave Music will provide support and guidance to the artist in furthering their career, developing their talents and growing their increasing fanbase. Company of Thieves has been described as “one of the best unsigned acts out there” by Billboard magazine and was recently named “one of the Top Bands to Watch in 2008” by Beep Media, covering the Chicago-area music scene. Company of Thieves will be playing two performance slots in Austin, TX during annual industry-fest South by Southwest this week March 13th and 14th.

Expanding the Team
Along with the signing of Company of Thieves, Second Wave Music has added former drummer and tour management veteran Damon Atkinson to the team in the role of head of Artist Management. Atkinson delivered the complex, syncopated drumming style and “front man-like” charisma that became the signature for bands Braid and later Vagrant Records’ Hey Mercedes. Atkinson spent last summer running sponsorships for the Warped Tour; served as tour manager for Senses Fail and Tiger Army and is currently tour manager for Orange, CA-based Thrice. “I’m excited to be a part of Second Wave Music and to represent an artist like Company of Thieves,” said Atkinson. “They’re young, incredibly talented and have the potential to be very special.”
