Join singer/songwriter Cynthia Lin for a special full band concert on Saturday, March 29, 8PM, at New York City's Baruch Performing Arts Center (BPAC) to celebrate the release of her second album DOPPELGANGER. The concert is presented by BPAC as part of the inaugural season of "55 UnderGround," a contemporary music series featuring up-and-coming local talent.
In addition to writing, singing, and playing guitar on DOPPELGANGER, officially released in November 2007, Lin also served as the album’s main producer and arranger. The seven tracks on the EP range from the jazzy, jaunty love song "Skipping in NYC" to the dark, carnival-tinged title track "Doppelganger." The combination of eclectic sounds, poignant stories, and Lin’s intimate interpretation of Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time" has attracted critical praise for DOPPELGANGER, including recognition as one of AsiaXpress.com's "Top five albums of 2007."
The DOPPELGANGER CD packaging reflects yet another side of Lin’s artistic sensibilities. The recycled cardboard CD cases use neither glue nor plastic and were designed and hand-letterpressed by Lin herself. Fans can view photos of the letterpress process, as well as stream the album and download free MP3s, at www.cynthialin.com.
The Baruch Performing Arts Center is located on the campus of Baruch College, at 55 Lexington Ave, entrance on 25th Street between Lexington and 3rd Ave. Tickets are $25 general admission, $15 students, $12 Baruch students, and can be purchased online at www.55underground.com.
Cynthia Lin is an independent recording artist based in New York City. Her debut EP Blue and Borderlined was released in 2005.
