HAAM SONGFEST 07 SET FOR NOVEMBER 17
(Houston) The Houston Association of Acoustic Musicians (H.A.A.M.) will hold its second annual fundraiser and celebration on Saturday, November 17th, at The Cosmos Café, 69 Heights Blvd., Houston, TX. The event, known as SONGEST 07: Celebrating Songs from HAAM, will feature over two dozen of Houston’s finest musicians and songwriters performing the music made popular in local clubs and venues, as well as on the weekly HAAM Radio Show on KPFT 90.1 FM. The eight-hour event begins at 4:00pm with a continuous lineup of entertainment until midnight. The event serves as a means to promote local and regional acoustic musicians and songwriters, as well as benefiting the Musicians Benevolent Society of Houston (MBS).
MBS provides monetary aid to musicians in the Houston area who are in dire need due to health problems or other tragic situations. HAAM’s fundraising relationship with Musicians Benevolent Society began in 2005, with an event known as A Slice of HAAM, and the relationship has continued with great success.
Since 2004, HAAM has become increasingly more involved in The North American Folk Music and Dance Alliance and has established a presence at their annual National and Southwest Regional Folk Alliance conferences. Through its presence, HAAM has advanced its mission of creating awareness of the Houston acoustic music scene, as well as obtaining professional education and information for its membership. By showcasing HAAM artists at Folk Alliance events and pursuing network opportunities, HAAM has helped Houston to become recognized for its strong acoustic music and songwriting community.
Tickets for SONGFEST 07 are available at the door for $10.00, and the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for door prizes will be available throughout the event.
