The MuseNote Songwriting Resource WebRing

Thank you for your interest in the MuseNote.  Unfortunately, this webring has been deleted from RingSurf.  The landscape of "webrings" has changed drastically over the years.  RingSurf has just nailed the lid on the coffin.

Instead of a ring being self-contained as it used to be, RingSurf has made it so that if you change to their new system (and the old one no longer works as of April 1st - but did they actually email anyone in their network to let them know that?  NO.  To say that I'm majorly teed off about this, is an understatement), the link in the code links to their site (which also contains a bunch of Google AdSense ads, I might add...) - and then when you click on a link in the list, the ring is actually a secondary window within a frame of the RingSurf site.

What does this mean to all of us?  It means that any link benefits we might once have been receiving from joining a webring that linked us all together, are GONEEntirely.  All the link "popularity" of a ring, is going to RingSurf - and no one else.

For this reason, and for the shoddy way they handled the switchover (I've worked in Internet Marketing since 1995.  They might have thought folks wouldn't be wise to their tactics when they made this change.  Likely, most are not.  I am.  And it ruins all my hard work on behalf of all of us.  Yes, that makes me mad.) I'm closing the ring.

My apologies for any inconvenience this causes.  For those of you who were in the ring, really all you need to do (if you want to) is remove the ring code from your sites.  If you're feeling particularly generous, you could visit and replace that code with one of the banners or buttons there.  And of course, anyone interested is welcome to submit a site to the Muse's Muse Music Resources where I'll be happy to link back to you.

I wish you all the very best in any future endeavors you take on.  I'm very sorry the ring had to go away ... but it seems that the current web climate just isn't accommodating such things anymore.  Not through RingSurf, anyway.

Thank you for your support in the past and if you have ideas for how our sites could work together in the future, I'd be happy to talk with you about it.

All the best,
