CD Review:

3o Trips Around The Sun is a strong debut CD from San Diego singer-songwriter, Jeff Diamond.  Fine guitar work and an exceptional voice complement a well crafted songs and solid production from Damon Cisneros. Diamond is joined by Cisneros on bass, guitar, and drums. Nick Sitar plays percussion, Rhy Thornton plays violin, and Sara Love adds vocals.

Don’t Talk About My Girlfriend made me laugh out loud. When he sang that he would release the chains and she would deal the pain, I couldn’t help but think of some of my past relationships. This is a nicely written tune but Diamond doesn’t stop there. 30 Trips Around The Sun is filled with gems. Today features beautiful guitar work and harmonies from Diamond. This quiet ballad comes alive under Cisneros’ deft production. Netherworld displays some nice guitar interplay between Diamond and Cisneros against a somber lyric. My Best Friend is the sad tale of a breakup.  Sara Love’s harmony is the perfect touch. The simple arrangement of Goodbye,Goodnight allows Diamond’s strong vocal to shine.

30 Trips Around The Sun is an impressive debut CD. There are thousands of singer-songwriters out there. You can’t throw a stick without hitting one. I know because I are one. I receive more singer-songwriter CD’s to review every month than all the other genres put together. So believe me when I say that this guy is above the cut. He has a unique voice and good songwriting skills. I expect to hear more from Jeff Diamond. You should check out 30 Trips Around The Sun.
