Artist: Band: Garfield's Birthday
Genre: Brit Pop
CD Review:
Bop bop bop bop bop yeah, man, it's a 00s spin on the 60s from the place where modern rock began: jolly ol' UK. As 'Ambulance' revs up by way of quirky guitars, steady beat and laid-back harmonies, you know you're visiting a planet that doesn't often come close to our orbit. The very catchy 'she's my friend' from 'Thick Ear' might stay with you more than anything else. Hard to remember the titles of songs when the most memorable part Isn't the title, eh? Well, give it a try, it's worth the effort. 'Mad Old Bird' is rather the defining sound for the group, plus act now, and you'll received FREE handclaps! The lead singer is the high, whispering sort who keeps the pace equal to the running drums on 'Eye To Eye', and the walk-down-the-avenue attitude of 'Margaret and Stephanie'. I'm reminded of Hermit's Hermits and the like, and I remember now why they were such a big hit in the USA. Hope history repeats itself This time.
