CD REVIEW: Josh Bloomberg - How To Survive In Miami
By Ben Ohmart - 05/21/2007 - 10:34 AM EDT
Artist: Josh Bloomberg
Genre: Pop/Rock
CD Review:
What a cute girl on the cover. The cd booklet is equally stylish, with a minimal, white layout, but looks good. Wish there were lyrics here, but that would probably change my mind about the stylish bit, who knows. Anyway, the first page says FOR JOYCE. Is she the girl on the cover?
'Spectre' is frightening in a beautiful way. Lots of good orchestration on the whole album. More pop than rock, sometimes slipping into the mellow side of guitar-picking folk, but always a good recording and a soft voice telling you what's on his mind. Think of a young James Taylor, then think of Josh.
51 minutes, like 1 long love song cut into parts. Catchy, with it, more romance than sex, and a treat for the ears.
