His new CD Soul Eyes follows his first solo work African Suite. Soul eyes is a pure jazz album. Alva plays with four qualified musicians: Chris White (bass), Cecil Brooks III (drums), Larry Washington (percussions) and Harry Anderson (bass). The protagonist of the entire CD is Alva nelson’s piano. His piano playing is superb. Compositions are written on the piano and many songs are played only with ebony and ivory. His style is smooth and gentle with a touch of spice added on top. His music also has got blues and rock and roll influences. His compositions are fantasy trips around the world. If you close your eyes it is easy to be carried away and start dreaming about peaceful skies and lively oceans and all of a sudden you are taken to western saloons and blues smoky clubs where music is alive and passionate. A very good cd that can be recommended to everyone who is willing to close his eyes and fly away.
