- Lyricist, Composer or Both?:
- I am a lyricist but many of the lyrics I write have a melody in mind when I create them.

About Me
My name is Carl. I spent four years in Thailand, where I taught English. I find travel, interacting, and meeting new people to be a more exciting learning experience than sitting in a classroom. I enjoy a good laugh, have a dark sense of humor, and consider myself down to earth, straight forward, and quiet by nature. I like people who tell it like it is and are not afraid to rock the boat, especially when the boat needs to be rocked.

As for musical influences, I have a wide variety in what appeals to me. I mostly like songs you'd hear on the radio from the 70's, 80's, 90's and today. I don't have one particular artist I'd single out that reflects how or what I would like my music to sound like once a melody has been created for lyrics I've written, but I do have artists that have motivated me to write, so here are a few.
70's - Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Carly Simon, Barry White, Steve Miller Band, ABBA, Robert Palmer
80's - Heart, Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, Billy Joel, Bryan Adams, Prince, Whitney Houston, The Cars, Eurythmics, Gloria Estefan, Foreigner, Queen, INXS
90's Mariah Carey, Celion Dion, Ricky Martin
Today - Lady Gaga, Pink, Katy Perry
Guess I'm a product of pop, and perhaps to some that word in itself is a dirty word around muse corners, but so be it.
I also like adult contemporary songs, smooth jazz, reggae and classical music.
