About Me
Okay, so here`s a little about me. I am an artist (painter, acrylic on canvas) also looking for other creative outlets. I have been dabbling in writing and illustrating stories for children as well over the past few years. Lately, I have started to write down lyrics and compose (and I use that word loosely) music in my head to go with the lyrics. Problem is, since I don`t play an instrument, it`s a little difficult to marry the two together.
I come from a family of professional musicians, and used to play instruments and read music as a kid. I am re-teaching myself how to read music, but there is still the instrument aspect. I would love to learn the piano, but we have no room for one in our house, so I may consider a keyboard, or ask my Dad to teach me how to play the basics on an acoustic guitar. I figure it beats plinking away on my son`s fisher price keyboard ;-). In the meantime, I am looking for some kind of software that I can sing into so that I can at least see how the music and lyrics sound together. Though we have lots of musicians in our family, none of them are singers in their own right.
I know that if I was ever to get serious about writing songs, I would need to collaborate with a performer. I can carry a tune, but I am by no means a great singer and have therefore no aspirations to perform any of my songs in public. I am, however, respectful of the immense talent out there and am happy to let someone else`s voice do my songs much more justice. I am hoping that by joining this group (and once I have the gonads to post any of my lyrics), I will meet like-minded people who love music and writing as much as I, and perhaps even form a collaboration down the line with someone who can sing like a bird, but needs help with lyrics and songs.
In the meantime, I will continue to write lyrics, create music in my head and look for a way to put them together, so that I can package them for song contests or present them to someone who might like sing them for me.
