THE BUG

(ZELIGOVITCH)

Hey, I was fine!
Chatting with my girlfriends
And sipping at my wine.
Now, here's this bloke!
He's getting on my nerves
Is this somebody's joke?
He looks like a blind man
who must have dressed alone
He thinks he's a super hero
But My he's badly drawn.

Chorus:
This is much more than I can take
How can I make him take a break
Just a bug in the jungle
But he makes me sick

I have had the time to count his hairs,
To check the fire exit
To see how the others are happy where he is not
St Francis would have known
how you could trick this creature
to leave me on my own.
But he goes on talking
and even with his hands
if I could keep on walking
I'd be in Wonderland!

Chorus:
This is much more than I can take
How can I make him take a break
Just a bug in the jungle
But he makes me sick

Oh, if only he would go away!
Maybe a Chinese torture treatment
Wouldn't make him want to stay
Or if I could feed him to the rats
Anything at all, not to have to suffer that
What on earth could I have done
to always get the worst?
If I had a magic cure,
at last my freedom would come first!

Chorus:
This is much more than I can take
How can I make him take a break
Just a bug in the jungle
But he makes me sick

Parting Gift (lyrics - A R Hossack, Music PM Sangouard)

here's the link

http://blindcommissi....net/arcole.cfm

Verse 1
Has there ever been a heart thats lived
That has yet to bleed
For it is i who sits alone
With eyes that fail to cry

Chorus
I died inside
Died inside
The day that you left
I died inside
Died inside
And pain was your parting gift

Verse 2
So now i sail on angry seas
And cast my net to the wind
But i know that all silver lines
Can hide a darkened cloud

Chorus
I died inside
Died inside
The day that you left
I died inside
Died inside
And pain was your parting gift

Verse 3
She says the things she wants
i could not give
Alone now on this island of hope
With pain i learn to live

Middle
A simple life
A simple love
I gave you all
It wasn’t enough

Chorus
I died inside
Died inside
The day that you left
I died inside
Died inside
And pain was your parting gift

Has there ever been a heart thats lived
that has yet to bleed

Mine

Words/Music: Alistair S

I am a roughhouse boy.
I am a tinker’s son.
I have no money saved.
I have one suit of clothes,
Two shillings and some rum.

I’d take a walk with her
If she would walk with me,
I’d change myself into
Who she needs me to be,
I’d take a chance with her
If she’d give me the time,
But she’s too a fine a lady ever to be … mine.

There’ll be no wedding bells.
There’ll be no blushing bride.
There’ll be no singing choirs.
There’ll never come a day
She’ll lay down by my side.

I’d take a ride with her
If she would ride with me.
I’d turn her life around
And set her spirit free.
I’d take a chance with her
If she’d give me the time,
But she’s too a fine a lady ever to be … mine.

I own the sky, but not the land beneath my feet.
I own the future but the past still has me beat.
I own a flame and I can build a blazing fire.
I own I've had a drink and have but one desire …

To have my way with her,
To have her want the same,
To feel my hands on her
As she cries out my name.
I’d take a chance with her
If she’d give me the time,
But she’s too a fine a lady ever to be …
Mine.

(And)
There’ll be no wedding bells.
There’ll be no blushing bride.
There’ll be no singing choirs.
There’ll never come a day
She’ll lay down by my side.

For she’s too a fine a lady ever to be mine.
She’s too a fine a lady ever to be … mine.

"When I was 5 years old, my mum always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wante to be when I grew up. I wrote down, "Happy". The told me I didn't understand the assignment and I told them they didn't understand life." John Lennon.

I Know A Good THing

Music/Words Steve Ison

Guess its too late to ask why
But in the end you know that I know a good thing when it touches my skin
I know that the joy of love will bring us back again..

Go and find the river, free the tide..
Let it take these tears we've cried
Feel the morning sun come like a long lost friend..
To shine a light on our troubles sayin 'i knew it would be alright in the end...'

And if we have to say goodbye..
Well i'll be glad you know that i knew a good thing when i think back there and then..
You gave me a light to follow and you taught me how to find my love again..

Fake Life

V
I'm the melody inside your head that's fading
I'm your shaking hands before you lost the feeling
What is it like to lose the passion
That drew you close to me?

CH
Come back to the real world
To find the path you lost
Let go of the fake life
The glamour hides the cost

V
I'm the key to all the doors you locked in your haste
I'm the only way to bring the smile back to your face
Let me take you home from this nightmare
Open your eyes and wake up

CH
Come back to the real world, to find the path you lost
Let go of the fake life, the glamour hides the cost
Look away from the spotlight, just drop the phone and run
Let go of the fake life, before you get too numb
This is how the world ends;
Not with a bang, but a whimper.

LIBERATION

Music and lyrics by Jason Kalman

Verse I
This is the moment
Of Liberation
Is this the end
Or is this creation?

Let go the pain
Let go the suffer
Let go the strain
Let go the buffer

CHORUS
Liberation
Liberation
Liberation
Liberation

Verse II
All of your life
All of your worry
All of this strife
Over in a hurry

This is the moment
This is your time
Don’t fight the current
Just free your mind

CHORUS

BRIDGE
I will guide you to the bright light
Don’t you run
I will wait for you to return
Through rebirth

CHORUS
Main vocal (center)
Liberation
Liberation
Liberation
Liberation

Backing vocal (left)
Just go to the light
Just go to the light
Just go to the light
Just go to the light

Backing vocal (right)
I'll be your guide
I'm on the outside
No need to fear the end is here
http://www.kalmanmus...

I have no idea where I'm going and it feels spectacular!

Someone Like U
Written & Produced by Thomas Itty

I've been walking down this road for so long
What hasn't made me weak has made me strong
I've been a stranger so many times
And I've heard all those worn out lines
Thought I was looking for answers in my life
As I wandered through this world with my books and my knife
And all my searching only helped me prove
In the end it don't matter what you knew

If you don't have someone like you
Everyone needs someone like you
And you prove it in the things that you do
Everyone needs someone like you
Like you…

Never turned to God or some religion
Only believed in truth and reason
In my life I've never asked for much
Been satisfied with a stranger's touch
It's all the same in this foolish game
Cos tomorrow no one remembers your name
Stand up for the red white and blue
But only one thing is true…

It's the love of someone like you
Everyone needs someone like you
And you prove it in the things that you do
Everyone needs someone like you
Like you…

Everyone needs someone like you
Everyone needs someone like you
And you prove it in the things that you do
Everyone needs someone like you
Like you…

Sweet Tooth
Music & Lyrics by Neal K

I’ve got a sweet tooth, can’t get enough of your honey
I’ve got a sweet tooth, can’t get enough of your honey
But you’re such a busy bee; ain’t got no time for me

I got craving for some candy; I want it, you got it
I got craving for some candy; I want it, you got it
I need a sweet delight to satisfy my appetite

Candy coated apples, peaches and cream
Chocolate covered caramel and tangerine
I ain’t greedy, baby; all I want is all you got
Tell me, sugar, can you give it or not

I got a sweet tooth, can’t get enough of the good stuff
I got a sweet tooth, can’t get enough of the good stuff
If you won’t give me more; gonna find me another candy store
The forest would be silent if only the best birds sang.

Just Like The Rest
by David Butler (lyD), with Nat Sisco (Zeek) on electric guitars

I let you down this morning
I swore I'd make amends
But then I had another drink
And we're no longer friends

I love the taste of whisky
I love the taste of beer
But when I wake up on my own
I wish that you were here

CHORUS
You tell me that you see it in my eye
A longing that I can't suppress
A weakness I can't hide, as hard as I try
That says I'm just like the rest

Other men have hurt you
I know I'm not the first
But darling you really loved me
That makes me the worst

You let me through your armour
To join your family
Your little boy he needs a man
But that man isn't me

CHORUS

Put away my whiskey
Put away my beer
I won't waste another chance
Or lose another year

Tell me you still love me
We'll play it by your rules
Darling give me one more chance
To prove I'm not a fool

CHORUS

Well I'm still here
And I'm not leaving
Give me just a second chance
And I'll come home

CHORUS

Stay The Same
by Mark Smith
©2011 Sleepy McGee Music

Another night, spent wondering, if my love
Would be better spent, somewhere else, I've had enough

So take all your promises and the time we've both spent
And remember through it all I was the one
Who looked past second thoughts and ignored feeling lost
After telling everyone you were the one
I'm not looking for apologies just a clean break for you and me
Don't make this harder than it's already been

I went all in just to see you fold
Didn't you say something about growing old
Guess things can change if you don't stay the same

So much for the love we've spoken, maybe you were joking
And I was just playing your game
But I don't want revenge, every fight with you
Always proves to be a dead end
So pardon me, if I don't feed into your silly little needs

Love never been so cold before you

The Electric Ghost
by Robby Thinman and The Snowmen
© AneckenderMusic2006

I'm lookin from a window but I can't see a tree
I'm in a desert city in the land of luxury
A woman in a fur coat is walkin down the street
She got the light in her eyes - but she can't see me

Cos I'm the Floatin Ghost I'm the Floatin Ghost
And I go places - nobody ever goes.................................

I arrive from the skies and I float away untouched
To the heart of the stars - where all light is crushed
The sounds all around are the sounds that I conduct
I'm the genius that was always overlooked

I'm the Floatin Ghost I'm the Floatin Ghost
And I go places - nobody ever goes.................................

I know a place that no-one knows
Where gravity rises and all time slows
Where the earth is so old that nuthin grows
And the air is so cold - even fire is froze

I'm the Floatin Ghost I'm the Floatin Ghost
And I go places - nobody ever goes.................................

I look down on this earth from way up high
I don't even know how it is that I can fly
I got eyes so wide there ain't nowhere to hide
You can lock your doors but I just float inside

And I trail the Taliban
And I view the Vatican
And I piss in the Palace of Buckingham

Magical Misery Tour

Lyrics: Donna Devine (DonnaMarilyn)
Music/Production/drums/bass/2nd guitar/vocal/prog keys: Ian Burrage
Lead Guitar/Lead Arrangement: Mike Woodford

Intro
In this circus of love
I’m the ringmaster
Hold on to your seat
This ride can go faster

(v1)
Come into my sideshow
I say with a grin
My magical misery tour will begin
I’ve sold the last ticket
That’s all for today
The others have left
Now it’s your turn to stay

Bridge
The magic’s in my loving
And the night I’ll spend with you
The misery’s in my leaving
But others are waiting too

(v2)
Move closer, my lovely
Step right over here
No need for alarm, you’ve nothing to fear
I think you have secrets
You’d like me to know
So let’s dim the lights
And get on with the show

Chorus
Let me take you, take you, take you
On my magical misery tour
I’ll break you, break you, break your heart
But you’ll only want me more
One ride on my painted pony
Will open heaven’s door
Let me take you, take you, take you
On my magical misery tour

(v3)
First we'll ride the merry-go-round
Then the tilt-a-whirl
For one mad moment you’ll be the right girl
The simulator
Will reach such a height
Before we wipeout
At the end of the night

Bridge
The magic’s in my loving
And the night I’ll spend with you
The misery’s in my leaving
But others are waiting too

Chorus
Let me take you, take you, take you
On my magical misery tour
I’ll break you, break you, break your heart
But you’ll only want me more
One ride on my painted pony
Will open heaven’s door
Let me take you, take you, take you
On my magical misery tour

Maybe Lord Calvert Knows Why

http://soundclick.co...cfm?id=10280774

by Wendy DuMond

w/Tom Franz, guitar & harmony and Scott Campbell, harp

I remember the smell of your whiskey
How your cigarettes flashed in the dark
Sometimes you were a mean drunk
Sometimes you broke my heart
There were moves and lies and alibies
And promises that you'd break
We never had heat or shoes on our feet
But the bar tab was always paid

Chorus

Why do people that love you
Hurt you and make you cry
Why am I left here singing
Maybe Lord Calvert knows why

It was hard to watch you suffer
How you labored just to breathe
You never reached-out for forgiveness
Even when you knew you would leave
But it ain't my job to judge you
Or to say what was in your soul
I found my own way to love you
I found a way to let it all go

(Repeat Chorus)

Maybe Lord Calvert knows why

Congrats Wendy and team :) What a beautiful song and the subtle arrangement works wonders. Two of the best voices on the Muse working together doesn't do any harm either!

Well done to Steve too, nice song and a fantastic performance. Not a bad first contest result :)

I gave both of those songs high marks along with Fake Life and Liberation among others, but I'm amazed that Alistair didn't place - I just think that song is wonderful. To be fair though, any other month I think at least 7 of those songs could have won it. These contests have become hugely enjoyable.

Thanks Nige and all the non-contestant voters, and great songs everyone!

congrats wendy. some great songs in there. I think i got the top 5 in pretty much the same order. I'm a little disappointed with my songs placing thought it might have been a bit higher - maybe its the french accent!! or maybe i need to try and write something cheerful for a change!!lol!!

Congratulations, Wendy! You were my winner, too, and I'm delighted you won! That is a great song!

There were a lot of good songs in this one and I'm pleased with my position. However, I can't believe I did better than Jason, who I really expected to place. I'm also perpetually puzzled as to why Thinman doesn't do better, but I know tastes differ.

Well done, everyone!

Fully expected Jason to take this one (no offense to any of the contestants intended, I just thought his was the perfect combo of quirkiness, solid songwriting and good production that usually does well in the open production contests) Looks like it was a fairly tight race overall though. Nice to see Tom placing higher in the contests with his consistently top quality material though.

I'm quite happy with the 7's I got, I had gotten my studio PC for the most part up and running again (my Facebook friends here can attest to my swearword-laden frustrations with hard drive trouble! ) the day the contest was ending so I threw together something quick as I always hate to let a contest pass without entering it myself :) I didn't expect it to score well at all, especially listening to the quality that was once again brought to the table this month, as it could definitely use a rewrite from top to bottom so the 7's are a pleasant surprise!

Congrats to the winners. Good to see the bar being raised each and every month! It always gives me a slight kick in the pants to keep plugging away.

EDIT: Just noticed an 8 as well, thank you to my secret admirer!

Hail to the queen, Wendy! Congrats!!!! I've seen you make a few comments in the past about feeling like you don't belong in this elite group of songwriters and I felt like you really believed that. Hopefully now you will put an end to such tomfoolery!

No surprise Scenes from Palacio was right there too but I'm amazed Zeligovich once again didn't score higher.

Congrats all. I was happy to see LYD place a close 4th since I played on it :)
I had everything tight--can't remember exactly who I voted #1 but since I couldn't vote on LYD I know Jason and Tom were probably 8's. (sorry Funk--I gave you a 7 though--you automatically get a 5 because of the awesome drums you use.) I haven't written a damn song in ages--but...doing the instrumental thing is way cool too. Good job all.

Hey, everybody i can honestly say i was extremely impressed with every one of these! i've been meaning to carve out more time to listen to more of your songs, and i came home from work for a boring Friday because my normal hang-out friend was out of town... thought i'd pick up a six pack of Bell's Oberon (microbrew beer) and give this song comp a listen...

Wow!

i listened to every one at least three times! i'd already given a listen to some of Alistair's, Robbie's, and FunkDaddy's stuff, and i know i've liked them pretty well and i kind of figured i'd have them at the top... but as i went through, some of them slid more than i thought they would...

I gave lyD the nod, very narrowly - thought i was listening to Al Stewart for a moment. The sentiment, sound, and lyrics got me the most... the lyrics were sort of like i try to write... operative word there for me being "try"... lyD does!!

Wendy's i gave the slight edge for second because the lyrics also struck home real well with me and her voice was just awesome on that. and i'm not a country fan, really.

then i had Tom's (awesome voice and maybe my favorite chorus of all of them), Alistair (i had given that lyric a middlin' score in the lyric comp it was in, but if i had known how it would sound, i would have scored it much higher), and Neal's (another great female voice, song was definitely not in a style that is in my 'wheelhouse' but i could appreciate the clever lyrics, wonderful use of extended metaphor, and i found myself humming it to myself long afterward)...

The Bug also stuck in my head... pretty much all day Sunday i'd find myself suddenly singing "that's much more than i can take/ how can i make him take a break?"... i think the repeated rhyme with the catchy and unique beat made it infectious...

Magical Misery Tour surprised me... i thought the lyric was clever, but suspected it would not be "my style"... but it was very unique, showy, and kind of reminded me of a modernized Emerson, Lake, and Palmer or something...

Robbie and FunkDaddy, i've liked everything i've heard from you guys and these were no exceptions, but i suddenly found myself sliding you two a little... sorry about that...

Liberation demanded that i listen to it several times in a row... very infectious too...

I thought i-man's was upbeat and catchy.. .a very nice sound, very appealing quality...

Blindcommissioner - don't give up the melancholy ones! normally the melancholy ones are my favorites! This was a tough tough month!

ScP - i don't think i helped get you to number two after it all shook out... loved the lyrics, especially, and thought you have a cool voice too... going to revisit yours in a little bit... i may have underappreciated something there... but i repeat, i really liked the song and the sound... my problem was - i like them ALL!!

but i hope every month is this good!

Well done, Wendy, Tom, and Scott! :) Yours was my first pick as well.

Again, another tremendous selection of songs, and difficult to select from among them. The bar is definitely being raised. :P

Wow, what an amazing group of songs this month! It's always hard to judge and this month was no different. I initially had Tom's song first since the song is so good I couldn't get it out of my head :) Then I heard Wendy's song and it blew me away. :o Her lyrics, melody and voice were both hauntingly beautiful and tragic at the same time. I really enjoyed all the songs this month and i can't wait till next month!
Great job everyone!

Congrats to Wendy and her beautiful song. Congrats to Scene of palacio who was my winner for this contest.
Me, I'm listening to Bob Seger's Beautiful Loser and Ac/dc's "It's a Long Way to the Top" in heavy rotation.
Thanks to the music. Thanks to the non contestant voters and thanks to Nige.

I was shocked yesterday when I checked-in on this and found that my song was the winner. I thought it would be last and considered sending a PM to Nigel asking him to remove it. But I decided at the last minute to leave it in. So I sent my scores and mentioned that I felt I should have withdrawn it.

This song is a very personal piece and an attempt at capturing a very complex relationship in a simple way. It's about my dad, who I loved very much, but who also was a hard person to love.

Chaplin, you are on the money in saying I do not feel that I belong. There are certainly some very skilled writers and musicians on this site and I really don't consider myself to be that skilled or whatever. I know that everything I do tends to be very simple and I also understand that simple can be pretty boring, especially from a musical perspective. I would not have entered this at all if Tom and Scott had not assisted me with the production of it.

I don't think there was a song in the contest that I didn't like and I found it very difficult to score them. I loved The Bug, Fake Life, I Know a Good Thing, and Liberation. I also enjoyed Alistair and Donna's entry. David, I liked your take on the same subject as mine, but from a different perspective.

Thanks to Nigel for running the contest, thanks to all who voted, and congratulations to everyone!

Why? At the end of the day do these contests really affect you? It's a great feeling to win one, and I'm not taking anything away from your great tune that did, but you most definitely shouldn't take it personally if you don't place well, it's just a sampling of opinions :) Like a lot of people say and I think is absolutely true, different voters on different day could place the songs completely differently. I've placed everywhere from first to last in the monthly competitions, usually I know why, sometimes I don't have a clue (on both ends of the rankings). Songs I don't think will do well end up winning and songs I think are great score near the bottom, that's part of the fun for me.

Like I always say, the contests are a great measurable sample of an eclectic listening audience. That's how I use them, sometimes it's for fun, sometimes it's to see if I really need to work more on a song I think is great. Don't ever take them so seriously to the point that you get self-conscious about what you entered, the Muse has writers and producers of all levels, styles, goals, shoe sizes, etc.

Your song has one of the highest averages I can recall, btw. :)

Congrats to Wendy for first place and to Scenes for 2nd place!! Great job you guys!!!
:)
Wendy, I could relate to this song and it really touched me, because I have lived it. I scored it as first place also! Not just because I could relate, but I thought it was very imaginative to use the title you did, though I did have to look it up to see what and who was Lord Calvert :P The lyrics tore into me.
My 2nd place choice was Donna's Magical Misery Tour. I thought it was clever and well done--sounded like it was done by professionals. You always raise the bar, Donna. :)

My 3rd places were ties between Alistair and Jason. :)

All of the songs were very good!! I scored them all pretty high and felt they are all worth notice.

Thanks Nigel for running the show :D

What a lovely comp this was to run. Just for the record I had Maybe Lord Calvert Knows Why as my winner but I had 4 or 5 other contenders snapping at its heels. I would like to give a special mention to blindcommissioner ‘s Parting Gift; a lovely song performed with much feeling, I’m genuinely surprised it didn’t do better.

thanks Nigel and also Neil who also mentioned the song - i think it's one of the best i've worked on. It's the first with my new collaborator Pierre-Marie Sangaourd who wrote the music and performed it - he's a very talented artist with a great voice.

It was a great contest - lots of different styles and some quality tunes, there's lots of talented people on here!! It kinda shows you how difficult it is to get anywhere in the industry when there's so much talent around!!

Well - I finally got to listen to them

I liked a lot of them
but didn't like them a lot

I did like the winner
liked the loser too
and
(strangely for me)
I liked Funky's song

Couldn't understand them not doing better so I'm happy and in my part of town to be in the bottom three

I LOVE getting low marks - keep em coming you tight-arsed bastards !

Thinman, I gave yours a high mark. :) And though I picked Wendy's as a first, I thought Neal's bluesy number was marvellous, and had it right up there as well. :D

One can't take the comps too seriously. They're entirely subjective, and any one of us might have chosen differently at another time. It's simply the luck of the draw. (Last month I got a kick out of seeing that my song, which came last, in fact had a lyric that had won one of the earlier lyrics competitions. Go figure. :P It's all very "catch as catch can". And it's all good. :D )
