Here is schedule for the 5 Open Format song contests in 2011. Open Format means that there are no arrangement/production restrictions. (note that these comps will be running on alternate months with the 1+1 competitions)

The contests will be run for approximately 10 days (6 for entering, 4 for scoring) - these dates are provisional and will depend on the mod running it.

Mar: 7 - 11 (enter) Mar 12 – Mar 15 (scorecards)
May: 9 - 13 (enter) May 14 - 17 (scorecards)
Jul: 11 - 15 (enter) Jul 17 - 20 (scorecards)
Sep: 5 - 9 (enter) Sep 10 - 13 (scorecards)
Nov: 14 - 18 (enter) Nov 19 - 22 (scorecards)

*note, all contests will be run from the Contests Forum - all 'live' comps are pinned.

The top two songs from each Open Format competition will be posted in this thread (1+1 comps have their own thread) in preparation for their Year End Final. (Tied songs will also go through).

All contests will now use the 1 to 10 scoring method. You can grade the songs however you like, just bear in mind that 10 is the highest mark you can award and 1 is the lowest. Only one 10 and one 9 may be awarded.

The song that is entered into a Monthly Competition must be the same recording with no changes made for the Final Competition.

The Year End Song Comps are for active musers only, so if a writer has not been present on the board since the start of November 2011 the moderator has the right to disqualify an entry

Someone may choose not have their song move on to the final competition if they wish. This might be an option for someone who has more than one song in the final.

For the Open Format comps the 10 qualifying songs from the 5 contests will compete in the Open Format year end final.

In the past it has been seen as a disadvantage for an artist to have more than one song representing them so before we start any voting (and note that the scoring will be different form the monthly comps) and am going to invite both Jason Kalman and ScenesFromPalacio to withdraw one or more of their songs if they wish. The choice is entirely theirs and they may to choose not to withdraw any songs, and that is fine.
