May 1+1 Song Competition
The philosophy of the 1+1 comp is that it is something someone could perform at an open mic night. Typically it would be one guitar, one voice. Simple effects may be used but bear in mind the open mic idea of one voice and one live instrument and you won't go far wrong.
You are not allowed to enter your song if you have paid for the production, mixing, mastering, writing or performance of either the Lyric or Music. For no part of your song can you have paid anyone money.
Deadline For Entries: May 17
Voting: May 18 to 23
Singer/Songwriter

Currently on the lookout for country lyrics in the style of Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Lady Antebellum, Zac Brown or any other crossover type artist. Not interested in traditional country.
Always on the lookout for great lyrics in general too :)

JELLY KNEEZ
When I aim to pleaze
She calls it jelly kneez
When we're on the floor
And she wants it some more
Oh she says don't tease
I want some jelly kneez
That's when she tells me she loves me so
Don't ever leave me, don't let me go
J jjjj jelly kneez
J jjjj jelly knee e eez
When we're turned around
And we're hitting the ground
Yeah it feels so right
That we'll go all night
When she gets what she needs
She calls it jelly kneez
That's when she tells me she loves me so
Don't ever leave me, don't let me go
J jjjj jelly kneez
J jjjj jelly knee e eez
Be on a slippery ride
When I open her wide
Oh yeah one more kick
It just takes a lick
Oh she'll beg me pleaze
I want some jelly kneez
That's when she tells me she loves me so
Don't ever leave me, don't let me go

Heart Full of Stones
© 2010
I have a token of each memory we made
little reminders so that nothing ever fades
a pebble gathered to remember precious times
holding each moment we shared inside
Now the velvet purse that kept them safe
These tiny symbols of our loving days
cannot hold your sad attempts in its space
they're a heavy pile in my hearts place
(chorus)
Your eyes are empty when they look at me
No more pebbles are picked up at my feet
I'm left to walk this path alone
and all that I have
is a heart full of stones
a heart full of stones
I need to travel down a road that's new
so I can replace these reminders of you
I'll kick up the dust and pick a flower instead
each petal for a tear that I will never shed
(chorus)
Your eyes are empty when they look at me
No more pebbles are picked up at my feet
I'm left to walk this path alone
and all that I have
is a heart full of stones
a heart full of stones
Just when you think my heart has a little room
you'll find that it's all filled up with blooms
I threw those stones back down on the ground
there are lots of flowers if you look around
(chorus)
Your eyes are empty when they look at me
No more pebbles are picked up at my feet
I'm not afraid to walk this path alone
my hearts flowers
now have grown
I have grown
I have tokens of each memory I've made.

Still Madly in Love
music and lyrics by shawn poon
LInk here:
http://www.soundclic...&songID=9008356
Lyrics:
The rain falls
And time stood still
And I'm still thinking about you
Though autumn breezes blow
To tell me I'm still in love
Still madly in love with you
Your beautiful eyes and warm smile
The longer I gaze, the more I'm amazed at your charms
But it's in the inward glow, the passion flows
And you used to tell me how we'd use to dream
We'd travel oceans
and scour the seas
we'd ride on wings and fly forever through the breeze
And in God's eyes we could be strong
Thought we could sing this endless song
Of love through the rain and storm
But now it seems all that's left is shattered dreams
And wishing somehow that yesterday could be now
Still kidding myself that tomorrow would be better than before
I'm still madly in love
Still madly in love with you

by David Butler (lyD)
You were a time machine
One day you'll know what I mean
And I was thrown by the look in your eye
The look of an angel
But beauty betrays you
I needed to know you inside
But inside and outside you looked just the same
I fell like a fool when you called out my name
Nothing would change you
And nothing would take you away
Then when you told me
How you longed to hold me
You took me back to a sad memory
A beautiful lady
One who betrayed me
But I know you'd never do that to me
'Cause inside and outside you look just the same
I fell like a fool when you called out my name
Nothing would change you
And nothing would take you away
You grew like an ivy surrounding my heart
You crept up behind me and tore me apart
But I'd never change you
And please don't go away
And I know as the years pass us by
You'll give me something that time can't disguise
Inside and outside...

i go up but everyone is down
by the time i decend no one is around
i'm so tired of being you
putting on my happy face and jumping cause i'm told to
i don't care anymore
this is me
i'm tried of wondering what you think
i'm a freak
everyday the television tells us what we should believe
how to dress up like a doll and how to get your warhol
am i too pale, too skinny or just a little dumb
please label me which one we're anxiously awaiting
i don't care anymore
this is me
i'm tired of wondering what you think
i'm a freak
why does something have to be wrong if i don't speak
aparently being shy means i'm a freak
but i'm unique
this is me

So Special
Words/Music: Alistair Sutherland (Alistair S)
She don't need to believe every word he tells her
She can feel that he's real and he says what he means
Anyone can see
She believes that he's so
Special
She don't try to deny he's a little bit crazy
She don't try to deny that she may be too
(But) She's nobody's fool
Loving someone who's so
Special
Ch.
I saw her driving in her car on Friday
She smiled and blew a kiss for me
She'd still be mine if I had my way
And we'd be, so
Special
2.
I still have her picture in my pocket
It's right here in the pocket of my jeans
A fading souvenir
From (a time) when I was nearly
Special
Had a dream that I could make the big-time
In the days when she believed in me
Took me years to see
I would never be
Special
Ch.
I saw her driving in her car on Friday
She smiled and blew a kiss for me
She'd still be mine if I had my way
And we'd be, so
Special

Basically, my back has gone out pretty badly again (old injury...wish it was a cool story like high school football or saving nuns from a burning church but it's just a lame one... bad lazy form working out at the gym) so I can't really sit at the computer for long spells. Worst of all my lawn is getting overgrown as this was the week I was going to catch up on all my yardwork, been busy at work. I like the look of cottage country style, overgrown long grass but I found out last year, the city of Toronto doesn't

I wish I could remember exactly how I scored everyone. I usually rely on having my scores PM'd back to me. I think I had Alistair's, Neal's and go-round's on top but to be honest, I struggled with the scoring and can't remember exactly how it all ended up when the dust finally settled.

Otherwise I thought it was a strong contest. Soddy's was possibly the best I've heard from him, So Special is good going on great (I still think it's lacking some of the passion of the video version!), Shawn's song had some wonderful moments. I enjoyed listening to every entry.
As for my song, it's clearly not written as a 1+1 and once my exams are over I'll put together a fuller, more upbeat version. Thanks to the one kind person who disagreed
Thanks Mark, hope you're still walking!
