What This Forum Is About:

What do you do to avoid stage jitters? How do you come up with banter in between your songs? How do you keep your voice or your fingers from giving out halfway through? This forum is for discussions about live performance issues both with yourself, and with other artists that you admire. For instance, has any particular performer inspired you when you watched him or her perform? Have you played a particular venue that hugely impressed you? Are you the owner of a venue that accepts Indie acts? Let's talk about it!

Way to go Stewy.
The video is very clear.
And I know I should not have so much of a problem with your Queens accent (being married to a Liverpool scouser),
but perhaps on the next one you could ask the proprietors if you could do a sound-check.
Your vocal is a bit too distant for me to understand.
Tell them your taping for the BBC or something.
If no one else has this problem, please disregard as the problem is probably with my ears.
Have fun. :)

I'm from Rumney in Cardiff.. my accent is very Welshy!

Danny .. I know what you mean.. but hopefully.. it's ok :)

it is a fun topic.. I noticed Dave Butler posting one on the 1+1
and thought we could pop them on here.. I'll tell him to pop his over :)

a big church hall and a big stage too.. packed most of the time.. so, a lovely venue to play at and cosy.. :)

Stewie's wish is my command! Bit of a cheat though, seeing as the only audience is my webcam...

http://vids.myspace....butorID=9398959

There are a couple of open mic videos there too, but the audience is louder than I am <_<

no.. I haven't got short naughty bits  :P

"I think of you" is very sweet.. love the guitar plucking..
yeah.. I know what it's like with noise.. the folk club
is silent when people play.. which can be nervy for people!

"going into town" really gentle too.. nice chorus of the la's..

hope we get to meet up sometime .. would be a good night of singing and beer..

;)

I just found this one of me playing my drum last Saturday. There are several songs, I'm only on the first one. I didn't know this had been recorded, which was cool, because I missed hearing the other songs when I was there.

You're getting a bigger audience now, though! Sorry I overlooked this earlier in the thread (I was distracted by Stew's naughty bits...)

Nice work, David.

OK - I gave it a try. Probably a major mistake. I'm still working on this song and had to read the words (so I'm looking down), and I am getting over a cold, so I'm croaking like a frog - but it's me, this evening... if it works (never done this before!)

Stew, loved seeing and hearing you! What a treat!

The verses were a bit hard to hear but the hook came through loud and clear. You've got a great voice and nice legs. I don't know about your naughty bits but I imagine they're fine as well. Gotta ask.....did you steal that hat from Castro?

Thanks Salley :) very cool choir performance! Made by the drumming of course...

Alistair, having seen that I'm really looking forward to seeing the song up for critique - it sounds to me like one of your best. Nice to watch the performance too :)

Yeah, gotcha. However, let's not suck the joy out of this. If it gathers momentum, we can transfer it (or even if it doesn't).

hey Alistair old chum!

well.. I never.. been out playing for a bit..
come back.. sipping a drink and playing this on the comp...
on my second play.. you really are a fab player.. even if you are drenched
with a cold mate... it didn't show.

wonderful and just .. great, great to see you mate.. and to see you play

delicate song.. and beautifully played my friend!

I'd love to meet up with you Nig and a few chums from here sometime this summer..
we could really bug some open mic .. have all of us play :)

I'm thrilled people have liked this idea.. oh.. Nig.. I remember one of your vids
a while back.. be good to see it again!

---------------------------

Thanks Jonie..

I do love my hats..
especially with the beard... Castroesk indeed!

---------------------------

Third play on Als.. deliberate and gentle..
hope I can play like that someday :)
also.. the very English accent.. with my Welsh one..
and Nig from Brummy.. David's almost melancholy vide..
be a fun night!

:)

Nige is a Londoner :) (He just lives in Brum).

I'd be happy to meet up any time, Stew. Reading and Cardiff aren't that far apart! Let's do it!

We also have a few members here in Reading now (another new one today, and Nige is here during the week). Cardiff is a great city, though.. so either is good for me.

Len is often around, too. Let's do something!

Alistair,

Now, that WAS, "So Special!!"

I loved hearing that song I've been reading in lyrics!

It is also really great to see that you are real and in 3D, what fun, I'm glad you did that and I do really like your song!!

which gives one more confidence :)

we will arrange something.. bloody love to see Len, Nig and you.. and David
and anyone we know .. I've even got some festivals (nothing big) to play at
in the summer.. in the Gower.. be good experience.

you are just up the road to be fair.. sure a night of music and muse gossip..
is not far away!

All I've got is a couple old VHS tapes - and somebody owes me a DVD of a performance from a few years ago. <_<

Digital video cameras have come *way* down in price! They can be gotten for under $100. I got mine on closeout for $125 (it was originally $600). Go get yourself one, Girl!

I'm not sure which ones you have seen but here is Still Limping On :)

To be honest, I wasn't expecting much out of this song. But wow! Great job with this one.
