Music Reviews - by Jarrod Brogdon |
 |
My very first ‘45’
record single was given to me when I was 3 years old. It was ‘Amie’,
by the Pure Prairie League. From the first time I played it on my
plastic red record player, I was hooked on music. I wanted to hear
everything I could get my hands on. Frustratingly, 3 years after first
hearing that great acoustic music, 1981 ushered in a whole new era of
synthesized music overtaking the radio. Luckily, by 1988 I had
discovered Young Country, which then led to the 90’s and my college
years which unleashed on my ears bands from rock and acoustic genres –
Counting Crows, Dave Matthews Band, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Better Than
Ezra, Shawn Mullins - to name a few. Along the way, I’ve been turned on to the new alt-country sounds and Americana (think Ryan Adams, Wilco, and Ray Lamontagne), local Atlanta music (Jackson County Line, Arlington Priest),as
well as classic country music (Willie, Cash, and Hank). Throw in some
bluesy riffs and jazzy vocalists, and maybe a few Irish jigs, and
you’ll have the vast musical melting pot that is my CD collection.
So, if your music
falls into the above categories, or some magical mixture in between,
I’m anxious to hear what you have. If you aren’t sure of your category,
send it on anyway! I’m willing to listen, and I’ve been told that I
give great attention to detail. I am a fledgling performing
songwriter myself in this crowded world of fledgling performing
songwriters. I want to provide you some encouraging feedback for your
artistic endeavor. Currently in the studio myself, I know the hard
work that goes into your creation. Hopefully,
I can write a few words about your album that you can use to promote
it, or at least make you smile about your achievement!
