CD Review:
The rising R&B vocal trio from Chi-Town is back with a more progressive and aggressive sound. IBU successfully showcases their artistic, vocal, and musical growth with a collection of well-written and performed songs that capture the imagination and stimulate the heart.
The opening track, the adrenaline pumping “Candy Kane,” sets the tone with its catchy, radio appeal, but it’s on the mid-tempo, Ne-Yo flavored, “Compromise” where they come close to perfection. The song features a poignant story line about a boy trying to win the affections of a (committed) girl with the promise of attention, affection, and better love.
Perfection is achieved on the best and most commercial song, “911.” The song is a fortified, radio-ready gem with chart-topping potential. Characterized by strong lead vocals and vocal arrangements, a driving beat that you can bob your head to, and infectious melodies, this track is the atomic bomb of commercial music bombs.
If these tracks are truly inspired by fans - keep the inspiration coming! The payoff is amazing and rewarding.
