There's a new star on the horizon
and her name is Dayna Lane. Her debut album, Anything You Want, is a
delightful collection of well written tunes, slickly produced and ready for
radio airplay. She's backed by some big names in the entertainment world. Most
of the songs on the CD were written by Hollywood producer, Chip Rosenbloom, and
feature an array of top Nashville pickers including guitar ace, Danny Rader and
keyboard player, Moose Brown as well as mult-instrumentalist, Bruce Bouton.
It's difficult to pick a favorite
tune from the album; it's full of strong contenders. Leave Me Alone, written
by Dayna Lane, starts with a searing guitar lead and rocks hard with
help from a solid rhythm section. Rob Hajacos adds a fiddle to the mix and Dayna's
voice soars above it all. Rader's acoustic guitar opens I'll Keep Believing,
a song written by Chip Rosenbloom and Lauren Christy. The lyrics are life
affirming and Dayna delivers the goods again. But perhaps my favorite tune is
another Chip Rosenbloom song, Shower You With Love. Dayna's vocal is
complimented by Rader's guitar, Michael Rojas on keyboards and James
Pennebaker's fiddle. This beautiful ballad echoes the positive outlook of the
entire project. "If there are clouds above, they'll rain with tears from
God, and shower you with love." The simple arrangement supports Dayna's
voice perfectly and magic happens.
This is a
very strong album that contains no throwaways or "album tracks". Each
song is well constructed and meticulously produced. Every song is a winner.
Dayna Lane is a true talent to be reckoned with and I expect to hear much more
of her in the future. In the meantime, Anything You Want will be passed
around to my friends and family. I'm sure it will find its way into my mp3
player. If you like country music with an edge and want to be the first in your
neighborhood to hear the next big thing, check out Danya Lane and Anything
You Want.
