The name of this band leads you in the direction of their leader and vocalist, Pascale Jean-Louis, with perhaps the idea that this is another typical female-fronted group, as we're seeing more and more these days. But that's where the introduction abruptly ends, for behind her eyelashes is a rhythmically powerful trio bent on rocking out.

Although her voice is very reminiscent of others who have come before her, it's the combination of voice & music that helps Eyelash distinguish itself. Their overall sound is nice & hard, just the way I like it, but with a lot of thought and attention to detail, especially to melody and the 'quieter' parts. That's where you can usually tell if a band can hold it together and hold your attention. In that respect, they do quite well. It's not often that I can describe a band's sound as both 'lulling' and 'compelling' at the same time.

All 3 songs are strong and somewhat similar, but that's not a criticism in this case - it's more of an observation of a band finding their style.
So, if you like 'grungy' female vocals where you can understand the lyrics, hypnotic grooves and buzz-saw guitars, meaningful lyrics and tasteful playing, then check them out.
