CD REVIEW: Kevin Thompson – “Kevin Thompson”
By Stacey Board - 03/26/2004 - 05:26 PM EST

Artist: Kevin Thompson
Album: “Kevin Thompson”
CD Review: This is actually a 4 song demo. The songs are bluesy folk/rock with laid pack production and instrumentation. Acoustic guitar and vocals are in the center, drums and bass, with some harmonica and keyboards in the mix.

Thompson has a smooth pleasing voice and a very nice acoustic guitar style. The first three tracks seem more in the singer/songwriter contemporary folk genre. Then “Out of the Blue”, the last track, has me curious to hear more than just these four tracks from Thompson. On this song the keyboard arrangement makes it sound more psychedelic, like a basement Bowie tune.

This is an intruiging sampler from a thoughtful tunesmith.
