Artist: Dan Mayack Album: “Pure 100% Music” CD Review:
Well he didn’t make it easy for me to find him but I’m glad I did. There wasn’t any contact information given to me on my particular copy of the CD but I was able to find him with a web search. This CD was good enough to make me want to do the digging.
This is some serious blues guitar work. Even his guest guitarist Paul Stone who plays on one tune sounds positively Santana. Mayack’s singing is mildly reminiscent of Leon Redbone but with a lot less jowl going on. The passion in his playing and his singing shows and shines. You get some rockin blues and some slow grooves and some really nice harmonica work also.
There wasn’t much detail given to me on the liner notes of this particular copy of the CD but I will assume that Mayack does all the singing and playing on all songs except on the one on which he gives credit to Paul Stone. He does take all writing credits minus one cover, Gershwin’s “Summertime”.
If you like great sounding blues guitar you will love this CD.
