Jen Johnson - self titled EP

This four song EP finds Jen in fine voice singing about what appears to be a young woman's coming of age "I am waking up to everything all at once." She has a real pleasant voice; one powerful enough to really sing and yet be quiet in the same moment. It's a real treat to listen to. Her rhythm section is really crisp, expressive and on the beat. It's so pleasing to listen to music that is played and recorded well, and my kudos go to the engineer and rhythm section.

Her melodies fit her voice, both perhaps still searching a bit for their true calling. Unfortunately, lyrics are not included in the CD jacket or press kit, so I'm unable to enjoy them beyond what I hear. My personal fave here is "21st birthday", conjuring up images of Lisa Loeb; "All I know is it's my time to shine, it's my 21st birthday" - shine on she will, keep an eye out for this gal. It will be interesting to see what direction Miss Johson takes with her music. Good luck to her.
