Artist: Katy Miner Album: the naked truth CD Review:
Ms. Miner delivers a 6 song EP which the CD calls "easy listening love songs for adults who think and feel." Most of the songs found here are very sparse arrangements, simply voice/piano or voice/guitar. My favorite is the title track, one devoid of all instruments, just pure voice and many juicy layers framing each other in a real pleasing mix. It would be nice to hear her sing along with a rhythm section; my guess is she would conjure reflections of Natalie Imbruglia. Miner has a sweet voice and it will be interesting to see how her writing and arrangements will grow to frame her gift. Lyrically, I felt she was holding back a bit, as she might still be searching for what she really wants to say. As she sings "For deep inside your heart shines the naked truth", one looks forward to hearing more of her truth.
