4 HUGE Mistakes Guitar Teachers Make In Their Guitar Lesson Ads

Having problems getting brand new guitar students with the guitar lesson ads you created? Know that you are not alone. Most guitar teachers deal with this common problem, many of them are guessing the ads are not reaching a good amount of people or those people aren’t interested enough on taking guitar lessons. Truth is they are death wrong, the actual problem is the effectiveness of their lesson ads. Next are the most common mistakes made in lesson ads, how you can prevent to make them and start acquiring massive new guitar students:

Mistake #1: Not Understanding Who You Are Writing Your Guitar Lesson Ads For

Many guitar teachers aim to promote their guitar lessons to a variety of guitar student types. They are guessing that attracting all kinds of students (advanced, intermediate and beginner guitar students) is the best approach. Truth is, the more specific you are in your lesson ads, the better the chances are for getting the attention of possible guitar students and having them taking lessons with you. In fact, guitar students who are committed to learning guitar want to study with a guitar teacher who is a specialist in the field they want to learn.

For example, let’s say you are suffering from a toothache. Are you going to a “general practitioner” or to a specialist (i.e. a dentist)? It’s a no-brainer... This is the exact same way your potential guitar students think when it comes to selecting a teacher.

Quick fix: Create Guitar Lesson Ads For Specific Groups Of Guitar Students Only

To make this even more effective, write many different ads that focus on specific types of guitar students. This single change in your advertising strategy will make you attract way more new students.

Mistake #2: Focusing Too Much On You (Your Guitar Teaching Experience And Background)

Guitar teachers talk too much about themselves when writing their guitar lesson ads. This hurts your ad’s efficiency for two reasons: First, all other guitar lesson ads are written in the exact same way. Take a look around and notice how many guitar teachers are talking about all these irrelevant things (their location, teaching experience, music career background, etc.). Making your ads the same as everyone else gives no reason for people to contact you instead of contacting another teacher... and you lose students.

Second, people who want to learn to play guitar do not care about you or me or anyone else. They only want to learn to play guitar the way they want to play. Your background or any type of credential won’t make them excited about studying guitar with you.

Quick fix: Center Your Guitar Lesson Ads On What Your Students Really Want

Write your guitar lesson ads so that people who read them feel like you relate to them, and that you understand exactly what their frustration and challenges are.

Build a list of common problems most guitar students deal with and discuss them in your lesson ads. Write about explicit problems that you are going to fix and/or specific target you are going to lead them to reach. In doing so, guitar players who read your ad will feelthat you are the one who truly understands them and will be more likely to contact you.

Warning: Never write things that aren’t true or things that you can’t do. You have to be able to support your claims with real ability to teach and proof. Mistake #3: Failing To Communicate To Potential Students How They Will Profit From Taking Guitar Lessons With YOU

Most guitar teachers fall into the trap of listing too many details when it comes to what they teach in their lessons. They talk about specific musical concepts and guitar techniques. Never do this if you want to get new guitar students. This is the reason why:

Truth is, potential students do not come to you to learn new musical concepts or guitar techniques... many of them wouldn’t understand what your technical language means and how this would help them to become better at guitar. What they actually want is to solve their musical frustrations and to feel great when playing guitar. Talking about a bunch of random topics won’t meet their needs and most people will assume you aren’t the right teacher for them.

Quick fix: Stop Selling “Guitar Lessons” In Your Ads - Sell “Fixing Guitar Playing Problems”

To create effective guitar lesson ads, you need to acquire a deep understanding of what exactly guitar students look for in guitar lessons. Hint: guitar students that are just starting often have totally different reasons for seeking guitar lessons than advanced students have. Teenagers and children have different needs and goals than adult guitar students. Identify the type of students you are trying to attract and talk to the heart of their desires, goals and challenges.

Mistake #4: Saying The Cost Of Your Guitar Lessons In The Ad

The vast majority of guitar teachers are revealing their lesson prices right away in the ad. Here are the reasons why this prevents new guitar students from contacting you:

A. Many guitar students have no clue when it comes to analyzing the value of different guitar teachers or understanding which teacher is better for them. And due to this, they assume incorrectly that all guitar teachers are equal, and the less expensive one would be the best deal for their money.

These students’ assumptions hurt you in huge ways, because the only way to win with this approach is by being the cheapest guitar teacher in the area... leading to you making way less money than what you could be earning. On the other hand, this also hurts your guitar students because if they are simply looking for the cheapest guitar lessons, they will probably end up with a poor quality guitar teacher (you get what you pay for).

B. Guitar students who want cheap guitar lessons are the ones who aren’t serious and committed to studying guitar, do not have a lot of money to invest in it, and aren’t likely to study with you for a long period of time. On the other hand, the best guitar students (those who are serious about learning guitar, want the best guitar teacher and also have a lot of money to invest into guitar lessons) know that “cheaper” guitar lessons equal “low quality” guitar lessons, and will never choose you if they see a low price in your guitar lesson ads.

Ultimately, the guitar students and you lose twice, by not attracting the best guitar students and earning way less money from each student.
