CD SINGLE REVIEW: Gooding - "Elysium"
By Gian Fiero - 01/29/2006 - 01:34 AM EST
Artist: Gooding
Album: "Elysium"
CD Review:
Genre: Instrumental Sounds Like: ? Technical Grade: 10 Production/Musicianship Grade: 10 Commercial Value: 10 Overall Talent Level: 10 Songwriting Skills: 10 Performance Skill: 10 Best Songs: Single Weakness: None! CD Review: I met Gooding, a singer/songwriter/musician/performer who is from Wichita, Kansas at the Film/TV & Music Conference in Beverly Hills. We bonded over our mutual admiration of Prince's musical talents. That was time wasted because we should have been talking about his own. The CD that he gave me contains a saucy instrumental track which features a funky, uptempo, R&B groove that's sprinkled with some Indian influenced keyboard melodies and driven by a steady, sexy beat that you can dance to. It's a musical resume which showcases Gooding's amazing musicianship and keen awareness of what music supervisors want in an instrumental: a nice intro, musical changes, dramatic undertones and periodic breaks. This track is just sick - and I don't mean sick as in unhealthy - I mean sick as in fortified! It succeeds on multiple levels, can be used in multiple formats, and can be used in multiple ways.
Advice: I know you are a performer, but push this track to every music supervisor on the planet. You'll be doing them (and yourself) a favor.
