Artist: Band: Modern Minstrel Music
CD Review:
Genre: Power Pop/Alternative Rock Sounds Like: Maroon 5/Red Hot Chili Peppers Technical Grade: 9 Production/Musicianship Grade: 10 Commercial Value: 10 Overall Talent Level: 10 Songwriting Skills: 10 Performance Skill: 10 Best Songs: Rock Star, In And Out, Sneak Preview, Best Friend Weakness: None CD Review: I met Michael Stine of Modern Minstrel music, an upstart publishing company, while speaking at the Music Recording Industry Program at San Francisco State University. He presented me with a catalogue of songs that he is considering promoting for evaluation.
Simply put: Modern Minstrel Music has the strongest power pop catalogue that I've heard this year. Their million dollar baby is the commercial radio gem and licensing cash cow, "Rock Star," by Kingstreet. Yes, there have been other high-charting, popular songs entitled "Rock Star," but this one is bright in terms of its appeal and use. This song alone can launch Michael's career as an industry player, his publishing company, and pay for his kid's college tuition if he markets it correctly.
Because of the extraordinary songwriting and performance skills displayed by Kingstreet, I would advise getting a publishing deal for them first and using it to obtain a recording contract later. They are phenomenal and can best promote their own material. I suspect they would thrive as a self-contained recording act. The songs, "In And Out," and "Sneak Preview" both would get major spins in any market. "Fading Away" would make the perfect opening for a television series, a la friends. The hit potential from this catalogue goes on, and on, and on. Play your cards right and the money will keep coming in, and in.
Advice: Get your game plan and bank account together.
