Artist: Kai Brown
Album: "Better Now"
CD Review:
Genre: Adult Pop/Rock Sounds Like: ? Technical Grade: 10 Production/Musicianship Grade: 9 Commercial Value: 8 Overall Talent Level: 8 Songwriting Skills: 8 Performance Skill: 8 Best Songs: Up All Night, Goodbye Goodnight, See Through Me Weakness: ? CD Review: Kai Brown, a musician and vocalist from Australia via Southern California, sent me his debut project containing adult pop/rock songs that are tightly structured, polished, and very well-produced.
His brand of adult pop is woven throughout this project with an energetic sincerity that captures and utilizes his vast performance experience. The songs "Goodbye, Goodnight" (which should be the follow-up single) and "The Pain," both illustrate this, but it's the infectious "Up All Night" which should be the lead single with its hooky chorus, strong bridge, and nice arrangement. It has break-out potential.
Because this project is so well-produced, it will be competing directly with product from the majors in a tough genre. Kai will be able to hold his own. If you like any of this material, you will like this entire project because it does not vary in quality at any point; it merely offers different nuances. Other tracks "Money & Love" and "See Through Me," enhance and solidify his repertoire.
Adult female audiences who have been yearning for a new adult male pop artist should be better now.
Advice: Market and promote this to radio.
