CD SINGLE REVIEW: Nicholas Alan - "Hollywood"
By Gian F - 08/23/2005 - 02:06 AM EDT

Artist: Nicholas Alan
Album: "Hollywood"
CD Review: Genre: Pop
Sounds Like: Jamie Walters/Michael Franks
Technical Grade: 8
Production/Musicianship Grade: 8
Commercial Value: 8
Overall Talent Level: 8
Songwriting Skills: 8
Performance Skill: 8
Best Songs: Single
Weakness: Hook not strong enough for a radio single, but strong enough for licensing.
CD Review: I don't know exactly what it is about that split from I-105 South to I-170 into Hollywood, California, but I just feel different when I merge onto it. Needless to say, I love Hollywood! What it is. What it embodies and the opportunities that it represents.

It's not clear to me in this single if Nicholas Alan, who is a unique singer/songwriter from Marrieta, Georgia, but was raised in Hollywood, Florida, is talking about his hometown in this smoothed-out, jazz flavored cruising song. The track features superb guitar playing which is accented by pleasant chords and memorable melodies that showcase Nicholas' dreamy vocals. It's the kind of song that you simply will enjoy listening to - regardless of which Hollywood he is singing about.

Advice: Service this single to music libraries at once!
