CD REVIEW: Hans Storsberg - "Who's Les Blah?"
By Stacey Board - 11/18/2004 - 01:45 PM EST

Artist: Hans Storsberg
Album: "Who's Les Blah?"
CD Review: I could almost hear power drums and power guitar added to these songs to make them sound like Pearl Jam, but I'm very glad he didn't do that! They songs sound very good exactly the way they are.

This music sounds like something I would describe as 'power folk'. The songs are very intensly written, felt and playedbut the instrumentation is very simple. They are played by Storsberg on acoustic guitar and Rich Depaolo on fretless bass. Storsberg is a stunning guitar player, fully displaying the art and the science of his instrument.

The choice of fretless bass is also interesting because the instrument itself has such a unique sound. It also adds a darkness and intensity to the songs that is a perfect compliment. The overall effect is a rich and unique stand out sound for these well written and expertly played songs.

I don't know what the title means but if you are a fan of amazing acoustic guitar and heartfelt songwriting, you will love this CD.
