Artist: The Megan Slankard Band Album: “freaky little story” CD Review:
There’s nothing freaky about it. Slankard has a sound that is poised for success. She’s also got absolutely everything going for her. She writes hooky pop and sings with growls, purrs, hip-hop stops and McLachlinesque octave warbles. Add to that a crackerjack band, radio friendly production, and WB program good looks.
The success that has already come her way is impressive. She shares cowriting credits with Mark Knopfler, yes THAT Mark Knopfler, on the title track of his latest CD for petessakes. Do I sound envious? Darn right! But I shouldn't be. Slankard has done everything right and the music world is taking notice.
“freaky little story” is a CD that gives you the best of what current pop has to offer and Slankard is an artist you will be sure to hear a lot more from.
