CD REVIEW: Scott Johnson – “New Voices, New World”
By Stacey Board - 05/24/2004 - 10:22 PM EDT

Artist: Scott Johnson
Album: “New Voices- New World”
CD Review: This CD is a collaboration of the very talented songwriter Scott Johnson and some of his very talented friends.

This is also a CD with a message and a mission. To summarize from the liner notes “New Voices New World provides a place for musicians to express - in a positive constructive way – the kind of world and future they want to create”.

The songs are all solid, well-crafted melodies and engaging tempos. The singers do their jobs and then some. Matthew Moon is bluesfully delicious, Kara Hesse is delightfully twangy, Rebecca Mesple is silk with legs, Garret Shelsta outdoes Ryan Adams, and David Sherman ditto on John Mayer. What an excellent cast of singers and players Johnson has assembled.

The recording and musicianship are all top notch throughout. Even if you are an SUV driving, beef eatin’, anti-recycling cynical grouch, you will enjoy the great songs and performances on this CD.
