Album: “The Garrison Project”
CD Review: Garrison is Garrison Leyham, who along with Betty-Lynn White are the main songwriting team for this CD. They have written some strong pop-rock songs here with a good sense of hook. “Arms of Rock And Roll” and “Love’s Alright” are fine little pop songs. “Questions at Night” and “Near You” add a pleasing darker touch that lends nice variety to the CD overall.

Garrison shares electric guitar playing with Jean Sandoval, and their touches are real stand-outs. I’m not sure who plays what where, but the electric guitar work throughout is quite good. Tara Engler lays down lead vocals on many of the songs with some very strong performances, especially on “Can You Hear Me Calling”. Garrison’s singing makes me think of John Hiatt and Pete Townsend coolly mixed together somehow.

“The Garrison Project” is a well written collection of pop-rock songs well played and delivered.
