CD REVIEW: Seasons of the Witch – Poetry and Songs to the Goddess
By Ben Ohmart - 12/05/2002 - 11:39 AM EST

Artist: Compilation: Seasons of the Witch
Album: Poetry and Songs to the Goddess
CD Review: Crystalline voices and celestial harmonies rise up and fill the air. Songs and poems celebrate the nature of Woman, as revealed in the seasons. These are the faces of the Goddess and the stages of Woman - Maiden, Lover, Mother and Crone. Seasons of the Witch celebrates the Goddess by honoring the power of creation.

The promise of Spring.
The fulfillment of Summer.
The reflection of Autumn.
The resolution of Winter.

The above is the pretty explanation of this 2 cd set of poetry and poetry with music that comes via composers Peggy Monaghan
James Robbins
Claudia Blythe
Lili McGovern
Susan LaCroix
Sally Coombs
and Kirsten Baird Gustafson. With all poems and lyrics by Patricia Monagham.

True, poetry by nature is eclectic and will seldom know mega-sales, but that’s not the point. The point is to give women a place to rest, relax, reflect and hone in to the like literary feelings that are personal and often universal.

The sound is great, the content is thinkable, the performances are caring.
