CD SINGLE REVIEW: Stereotype - "Can You Stop The Rain"
By Gian F - 11/29/2002 - 11:20 PM EST

Artist: Stereotype
Album: "Can You Stop The Rain"
CD Review: Genre: R&B
Sounds Like: O-Town
Technical Grade: 6
Production/Musicianship Grade: 6
Commercial Value: 6
Overall Talent Level: 6
Songwriting Skills: 6
Performance Skill: 6
Best Songs: Not this one
Weakness: Vocal arrangements don't work
CD Review: I have a special fondness for vocal groups. Blending and combining vocal parts in a song at different times for different effects is one part science and one part art. Some groups like Take 6 and N' Sync (yes, I used them both in the same sentence) make it look and sound so easy. The guys in Stereotype do not have that type of talent, but because their vocals aren't arranged properly, mainly in the chorus, I don't really get a true sense of just how talented they really are, but I do get a real sense of how much this song doesn't work.

Advice: Have someone else arrange your vocals or go with more straight forward vocal arrangements (i.e. BackStreet Boys or All 4 One).
